Physical: 100" announces plans for the upcoming season.
Netflix's Korean survival show "Physical: 100" is a must-see reality show for fans of brutal physical challenges, wholesome sportsmanship, and supportive personalities (not to mention eye candy). Created by producer Hogi Chang, the show brings together 100 contestants from a variety of sports and professions each season, including professional bodybuilders, Olympic gold medalists, fitness influencers, and gym-going celebrities, to test their strength, endurance, compete in shocking challenges that test their strength, endurance, and teamwork.
Season 2 premiered in March 2024 with a new all-star cast of athletes and complex underground-themed challenges that kept viewers on the edge of their seats, waiting to see which popular athletes and underdogs would win in the April 2 finale The second season of the show is now coming to an end. Now that the second installment is nearing its end, here is what we know about a possible "Physical: 100" Season 3.
As of this writing, Netflix has yet to make an official announcement, but the end of "Physical: 100" Season 2 suggests that the series will return on a grander scale. Similar to the Season 1 finale, the last part of Episode 9, "The Quest for the Perfect Physique... . continues," with the narration "Only one torso statue is left among the 99 rubble.
The scene continues with illustrated depictions of athletes engaging in various sports, including boxing, martial arts, sumo wrestling, and handball, and is revealed in the ending graphic: Physical: 100 - Asia
Whether this is an entirely new spin-off series or whether "Physical: 100" Season 3 will simply be expanded to include non-Korean residents, we will have to wait for Netflix's announcement. Either way, this teaser is consistent with the hopes for the franchise that creator Jang Ho-ki expressed in an interview with The Korea Herald ahead of Season 2.
"'Physical: 100' was an original Korean show. And we decided to cast foreign-born personalities who live in Korea and can communicate in Korean," he said, adding, "As a director, it is my It is my hope," he added.
As for when the reveal will happen, Netflix traditionally takes several months to announce series updates. Looking at "Physical: 100" itself as an example, the streaming giant has announced a renewal for Season 2 in June 2023. However, there is precedent for proven hits to be renewed sooner. Netflix's other mainstay Korean reality series, Singles Inferno, was renewed for Season 4 just two weeks after its Season 3 finale aired.
It is difficult to guess exactly when Netflix will deliver a new season, but judging from past release dates... Seasons 1 and 2 of Physical: 100 were both released in the first quarter, with season 1 premiering on January 24, 2023 and season 2 on March 19, 2024. Netflix will likely maintain its late winter/early spring release schedule, with season 3 arriving at least by April 2025.
