Nicolas Coughlan exchanges his "Bridgerton" corset for a moody matching set.

Nicolas Coughlan tends to favor romantic silhouettes, bright hues, and Regency Core floral fabrics. But this week, the Bridgerton actress switched up her show-coordinating style in favor of quiet luxury.

Appearing on CBS's early morning show, Coughlan wore a deep navy A-line maxi skirt with subtle pleats on one leg. She paired it with a broad-shouldered, tailored top that was cropped above the waist and had structured, quarter-length, kimono-like sleeves. Unlike a regular blouse, the shirt wrapped in the middle and fastened with a thin gold clasp.

On the feet are color-coordinated pointed-toe pumps, and the jewelry is a thick gold ring and large gold hammer hoop earrings.

Coughlan is establishing herself as a fashion icon, thanks in part to her stylist, Emme Croisdil.

"Nicolas is amazing," Croisdil told Harper's Bazaar UK last month. ''She brings movie references and iconic moments from pop culture and film, and I combine them with fashion moments. We both bring ideas for different events and we just go with it.

In the same interview, Coughlan said, "We look for overarching themes in fashion and things that fit the story we want to tell." Their "story" at the time was the Bridgeton press cycle, which the actress referred to as a "month-long event."

For Coughlan, March was partially filled with pearls and ribbons, bubblegum pink and vivid turquoise, Vivienne Westwood corsets, and floral puff-sleeved dresses by Simone Rocha that complemented her Regency-era persona. filled the house. In recent weeks, however, she has been experimenting with moodier colors and more structured, minimalist silhouettes. Her latest look could be the dawn of a new era.

After all, styles change. Coughlan continued later in the interview, "When I first started going to events and going out in public, I would wear things that didn't make me feel amazing." I loved fashion and being fashionable, but all I cared about was what it was like to be looked at and criticized. But all I could think about was what it was like to be looked at and criticized by others. As long as I feel good, nothing else matters at all. I always try to take it with me."
