Zendaya, literally dressing for tennis in a sports bra and bedazzled net skirt
Zendaya and Lo Roach have hit it off again. The actress and her longtime stylist are done matching sci-fi looks to her role in "Dune": they are promoting Luca Guadagnino's new film "Challengers," in which Zendaya stars as a tennis prodigy, in court-inspired outfits.
Earlier this week, Zendaya wore a Loewe gown to the film's Sydney premiere, glistening on a tennis court. And yesterday, she wore a custom Lacoste two-piece set for the film's press.
This is not your typical tennis core set. The top looks like a white sports bra, with preppy pleats and thick elastic around the rib cage. Silver glitter is scattered around the neck and armholes, and Lacoste's signature alligator logo looks more like a sparkling silver pin.
She completed the look with a pair of athletic shorts crossed with matching boxer briefs, also marked with the metallic alligator. Over the bottoms, Zendaya layered a white mesh knit long skirt with a dramatic slit down the left leg. It looks like a Bedazzle tennis net.
For accessories, she wore stark white Christian Louboutin pinwheels, as seen in one of her previous tennis-inspired looks. Zendaya said in an Instagram story that the heels kept getting "caught in the net."
She topped it all off with classic Bulgari silver jewelry, including a B.ZERO1 ring, B.ZERO1 diamond pendant necklace, and diamond stud earrings. (She is a Bulgari brand ambassador.
Lacoste's creative design director, Pelagia Korotoulos, who took over last year, worked with Lo Roach to create the tennis court moment. Korotoulos' appointment was announced along with the brand's larger pivot to a more collaborative collective model. Korotoulos previously worked with Ivy Park and Pharrell Williams on collaborations at Adidas. Prior to that, he was global creative director at The North Face.
"With her recognized expertise in developing collaborations with proven unique impact, her ability to redefine creative models to elevate pieces to iconic status, and especially her talent for connecting fashion and sports cultures, Pelagia has all the assets to accompany Lacoste in its pursuit of a new cycle of creative expression and its ambition: to become the most exciting French brand in fashion sport," Lacoste Deputy CEO Catherine Spindler said in a statement. Lacoste deputy CEO Catherine Spindler added, "She also knows how to create a Grand Slam-worthy moment on the red carpet.
