Gigi Hadid ignores every seasonal trend for a comfortable spring look

Gigi Hadid has been busy on the fashion front, but then again, since when hasn't she? After posing for a Maybelline photo shoot earlier this week, Hadid quickly shed her supermodel glamour and once again embraced the art of monochrome dressing. At the same time, she cleverly subverted every spring color trend.

The 28-year-old model headed out to midtown Wednesday night to support a friend's stage performance. Her casual off-duty look for the evening was an all-black ensemble that featured a cozy Guest in Residence crew-neck sweater worn in with flared jeans and cinched at the waist with a Nili Lotan belt.

Hadid paired the look with sophisticated leather accessories, including a Miu Miu Arcadi leather bag and penny loafers.

She protected her eyes from the camera with Dmy by Dmy sunglasses. The only pops of color in her monotone coordinating outfit were a chunky gold necklace, a stack of hoop earrings, and a rainbow beaded cell phone strap from London-based label String Ting.

Hadid's decidedly un-spring-like attire followed a day on the set of a New York photo shoot for Maybelline, and her series of back-to-back spotting foreshadowed a potential collaboration with the beauty brand in the coming weeks It was.

During the shoot, Hadid put a bold spin on the office wear aesthetic. She started off in a black cropped blazer and ultra-slouchy pants, then changed into a gray corset with a fuzzy pink coat.

Hadid usually dresses for her cashmere brand Guest in Residence whenever she has a casual day on the town. Over the weekend, she was spotted leaving Whole Foods wearing a cherry red v-neck cardigan under a black coat. She styled it with athletic leggings and celebrity-approved Adidas sneakers.

All-black outfits like Hadid's are a staple for supermodels, and Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner also usually wear colorless outfits. They prove that less is more. And contrary to what one might think, the all-black look is as much a precursor to spring as the vibrant palette.
