Gisele Bundchen brings a new twist to the 90s denim trend
If anyone could bring back the denim midi skirt, it would be Gisele Bundchen. Wearing a Victoria Beckham patchwork jean skirt, she was in New York yesterday to promote her new cookbook.
Bunchen dressed up the skirt, which reads "art teacher" on a hanger or styled differently, with a long camel brown coat over a black tucked knit turtleneck. She accessorized with a black leather belt, a Saint Laurent puffer denim shoulder bag, and of course her signature knee-high boots. (This time, Celine designed her sophisticated pointed-toe shoes.)
Bundchen has never met a knee-high boot she didn't like and has been known to wear them with blue jeans and mid-length skirts on occasion. However, this trifecta of knee-high boots, midi skirts, and denim fabric is a first for the 90s supermodel.
Earlier this week, Bündchen wore the same outfit, as if she were being told to "change fonts." She wore a slouchy white knit midi-turtleneck dress and cinched her waist with a light brown leather belt. Gray suede knee-high boots, a long caramel trench coat, and a puffer denim shoulder bag, also by Saint Laurent, completed the look.
The '90s-inspired mid-length jean skirt is the reigning denim trend. Last year, maxi lengths dominated the runways of luxury brands such as Altuzarra and Emilia Wickstead. Katie Rowland, buying director of womenswear, kidswear, and fine jewelry at Mytheresa, told Marie Claire last week, "The maxi length is a big part of what we're seeing in denim. So it makes sense that this would be reflected in denim." She suggested balancing denim with more sophisticated silhouettes, such as A-line, pencil, and maxi, and pairing skirts with crisp white button-downs or tailored separates.
This trend is sure to continue, so keep reading to purchase a denim midi skirt inspired by Bündchen's early spring look.
