Angelina Jolie may have skipped the Oscars, but anyway she designed a red carpet dress.
Angelina Jolie did not attend the 96th Academy Awards, but she designed a memorable dress for the 2024 Oscar Red Carpet. The actress, who launched her eponymous sustainable fashion brand Atelier Jolie in 2023, has created a silk A-line gown for Suleika Jaouad, who along with her husband Jon Batiste will appear in the documentary "American Symphony" nominated for best original song. Jaouad's dress, a reflective champagne-colored silhouette, marks the first time one of Jolie's pieces has been worn on the red carpet.
The gown, made of 100% sustainable vintage silk, features hand-painted paintings created in collaboration with the artist Chaz Guest. The artwork was inspired by the documentary film of Baptiste and Jauad, tracing the couple's relationship while navigating the diagnosis of Jauad's leukemia
In keeping with the sustainability tenants of the Atelier Jolly, the Oscar appearance of Jaouad dates back to the late 1800s by Neil Lane Kuchar. The collection was completed with vintage jewelry by the New York Times, and was completed with vintage jewelry by the New York Times.
Jolie credits Jaouad as the New York Times bestselling author and award-winning artist, Design Muse. "From the moment we met, it felt like this collaboration was intended and we wanted to design the dress just for [Jaouad]," Jolie said in a press statement. "As with all the projects in the atelier, the goal is to make the clothes personal and be bold and creative together," explains the design partnership, "and I wanted to do it with Atelier Jolie.""
In addition to adding a red carpet design debut to her resume, Jolie recently launched Chloe earlier this year in a collection for her namesake brand, this collaboration consists mainly of boho-inspired formal wear- flowing gowns, Includes heel pumps and statement jewelry.
Through Jaouad's collaboration with Oscar Dress and Hearst, Atelier Jolie has already developed several brand codes in the world of timeless and elegant eveningwear.
