"Every season, we get together as a team and think through products we haven't had yet, especially during the summer." Sun Lee, Rothy's Vice President of Design, looked at the gaps in the marie Claire sneakers, loafers and flats line-up in every way, and the team knew it was time to open their toes and rise (in the literal sense) for the first time they landed on chunky, yet lightweight, wedge sandals. It's a timely move: wedges and platforms are the trend for shoes in the spring of 2024 with a lot of traction.

Even the highest silhouettes yet, Rothy's is not far from its comfort and sustainability DNA. The thread on the upper strap is made from recycled plastic bottles, just like the fabric on flats and sneakers.

According to Women's shoe design Director Caroline Swierszczyk, when the physical structure acts, the pattern diverges from previous Rothy styles and typical summer sandals. (Of course, cloud-like comfort is still the goal."You have this delicately designed stretch in knit so that it works with your feet - on both sides - with instep," explains Swierszczyk. That is, as the feet naturally swell in the course of the day, the straps of sandals can flexibly move around it, along with them.

Other highlights include a lightweight, elastic stacking sole built from bio-EVA (a renewable plastic alternative made from sugar cane), and a little bit of silicone smartly placed on the back strap to prevent it from slipping off your feet, which is soft.
