Kaia Gerber is a 60s Palm Beach princess at the "Palm Royale" premiere.
Kaia Gerber developed her signature personal style both on and off. But ahead of her upcoming project to star in the Apple TV comedy series Palm Royale, the 22-year-old moved away from her usual glam in a retro throwback look
Thursday night, Gerber attended the premiere of the show at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. So the model-slash-actress arrived at the event channeling the charm of the 60s, in an ode to the series timeline.
She embodied the best fashion in 10 years with a turquoise Alaia mini dress from the brand's Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Designed by Alaïa creative director Pieter Mulier and styled by Danielle Goldberg, her gown featured a high mock neckline and asymmetrical draping. She paired the mini with a coordinated blue fringe belt from Alaïa's Spring/Summer 2024 collection and white leather patent pumps from the fashion House.
Gerber mostly opted out of jewelry and let the dress do the job. As for the beauty, she wore her brunette in subtle waves and finished her glamour with a neutral beat.
The model's recent appearance is a departure from her usual red carpet wardrobe. Her appearance in Alaïa's Spring/Summer 2023 campaign could be an indicator of why she chose the luxury brand on this occasion, but perhaps Gerber is committed to experimenting with a new vibe with the show's theme ahead of its release.
Outside of her minimalist bookworm street-style looks, the founder of Library Science is caught with plenty of glitter (and Celine) on the red carpet. On this week's Oscar night, she ditched the main event and immediately headed to Vanity Fair's Oscar celebration in a disco Maxi gown from her French home where she checked all the boxes at the party: lots of sparkles, Celine, and twins with her mother, Cindy Crawford. The moment.
She also took an over-the-top costume ceremony to another event on May 2. She worked for British Vogue and Tiffany & Co. At the Fashion & Film BAFTA Awards after Party, she wore Celine's gold miniature gown. In tribute to the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards ensemble, she completed the number with a metallic heel and matching clutch.
Her dramatic red carpet switch comes ahead of Apple TV+'s new comedy series Palm Royale, scheduled to air at 3.20 AM. It follows the story of aspiring socialite Maxine Simmons (played by Kristen Wiig) chasing a seat at the Palm Beach High Society, America's most exclusive club. Gerber plays the role of Mitzi, a local manicurist and aspiring model.
"I've always loved the '60s," Gerber tells Entertainment Tonight about the series.
Gerber also announced her appearance on the upcoming project SNL1975, based on a behind-the-scenes account of the opening episode of Saturday Night Live. She is expected to play Jacqueline Carlin, who stars alongside Andrew Bath Feldman in Stranger Things's "Finn Wolfhard and Without a Hard Feeling."
