Gabriel Union will be minimalist chic at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.

Gabrielle Union's red carpet style recently leans sparkly to everything, from her two-piece disco set at the Oscars, to the chain-embellished naked dress she then wore to a Vanity Fair party. But at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards, the actress swung in a minimal direction.

On Thursday night, the Union attended the 55th Annual Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles. For the event, she wore a Burberry black halter gown, dressed by her stylist Thomas Christos Kikis. The dress featured floor-sweeping skirts with slits that bare dramatic legs on the sides, decorated with rosette embellishments on the neckline and hips. It looked almost like a red carpet twist on a sweatshirt dress, made from soft, jersey-like material and set with 2 thread-like ties at the top (like a hoodie tie).

The Union tapped make惻up artist Joanna Simkin for an evening glamour, which starred subtle smoky eye shadow, rosy cheeks, and neutral lips. She wore her hair in a sleek up that resembled an Oscar night hairstyle and accessorised with diamond-studded dangling earrings and sky-high grey heels.

Her recent appearance has been relatively toned down, a different approach to her usual maximalist appeal on the red carpet.

The Union's latest sighting comes days after she was spotted at the 2024 Oscars, showing support for her husband Dwayne Wade and his nomination as executive producer of the Little Rock Barber nominated for Best Documentary short. Joining Wade, the Union opted for a shimmering strapless peplum top over a Carolina Herrera full-length skirt and paired it with a stunning Tiffany&Co. Diamond necklace.

She commissioned her celebrity hair stylist Larry Sims and made sophisticated buns using products from Union's Perfect Hair care line

Union also surpassed on in Fashion Month. Being the star of Mary Jane was caught in 2 bold Burberry outfits at London Fashion Week. Before seeing her wearing a sporty beige hoodie and matching cargo pants at Burberry's after party, she first attended the British Fashion House's Fall/Winter 2024 show in a long-sleeved red velvet dress with floral motifs. The dress was styled with the brand cobalt blue mule and a bright yellow handbag.

Union's black Maxi dress at the NAACP Image Awards was a 180-degree contrast to her red carpet portfolio packed with bold, vibrant prints. Last year alone, she is known to bring a touch of spring inspiration to her outfit - even in the winter dead. As the temperature finally started to warm, it could have been a pure coincidence that the Union chose a more subdued look this time.
