The Schiaparelli show on Monday was a hot topic for many reasons, from the gorgeous front row (yay, J.Lo) to the impressive and inventive show itself. The luxury fashion house dubbed the show "Schiaparellian," a tribute to the Schiaparelli family's fascination with the universe. Elsa Schiaparelli, who founded the brand, was fascinated by astrology and the unknown throughout her life, and her uncle Giovanni Schiaparelli founded the Brera Observatory in Milan in 1877, and even coined the term "The Martian." In the brand's own words, "Stargazing was clearly a family pastime."

In light of this theme, Schiaparalien featured imaginative designs and beauty looks intended to make the models themselves seem otherworldly. Irina Shayk was one of those who walked the show, wearing almost indistinguishable makeup that showed off her flawless complexion and high cheekbones. Under the bright lights of the runway, her skin looked glowing and radiant, which was accentuated by her bleached eyebrows.

As a collection, Scaparian intended to be "a study in contradictions between tradition and avant-garde, beauty and provocation, earthbound and heavenly messengers." And Sheikh's look certainly evoked this. Her elaborate dress included the contrast of a form-fitting black silhouette with a flowing, rounded beige fabric that contrasted with her sleek, simple hair and makeup.

Haute couture runways are known for giving models simple makeup to keep guests' attention focused on the clothes, but in this case, Shaykh's makeup was an integral part of the look. The sheen of her face and hair, along with the striking effect of her bleached eyebrows, tightened the look and created a decidedly otherworldly effect.
