Lily Aldridge lightens her hair for the New Year.
If you think your New Year's resolutions will be meaningless a week from now, I am here to change your mind. In reality, there is no deadline for making changes. A "new year, new you" can begin as early as mid-January. And the best place to start the transformation is at the hair salon.
On Wednesday, January 10, Lily Aldridge posted a couple of selfies that prove it's now or never for a refresh. According to her Instagram story, the 38-year-old headed to the salon for a mid-week makeover, leaving behind a new head of brightened (and shortened) locks, courtesy of celebrity colorist Tracy Cunningham and hairstylist Danny Rischoff.
"My queen gave me a makeover!" Aldridge wrote in the first story, a video that showed off her entire new color range before zooming in on Cunningham. Compared to her previous dark brown hair, the new shade is much lighter: a cool-toned ombre-style blonde (Cunningham basically invented ombre), shadowed at the roots, which looks great against her brown eyes; in the second slide, she tags Rischoff, "I've been working on my hair for a while now.
"And a fresh cut," she adds.
The California native has lightened up before, but usually sticks to her signature brunette look. Recently, she dyed her hair a deep chocolate brown, slightly darker than her daughter Dixie Pearl's. She has also recently changed her once long hair to a lob, but the new cut has a much different facial fringe than her previous blunt cut.
New year, new Lily. And we love her just as much as we did before.
