Haley Bieber tries on the 9 to 5 uniform" Tube top, leather blazer, mesh flats
When it comes to dressing up for work, I wear the bare minimum. My morning routine involves getting up a few minutes before the clock strikes 9 a.m., which results in at least a couple of hours (well, all day) of relaxing in bed and typing. I usually stay put in my New York apartment, but recently Haley Bieber gave me some much-needed sartorial inspiration.
Fresh off her holiday trip, where she gave us plenty of inspiration for vacation outfits like chainmail skirts on the beach-Bieber is proving that she is just like the rest of us, quickly getting back into work mode. On Thursday, she snapped a mirror selfie of her Lorde headquarters on her Instagram Story. Posing near an elevator in front of her brand's illuminated LED sign, she debuted her version of TikTok's much talked about "office siren" look.
While her friend Bella Hadid recently expressed her aesthetic with thick-rimmed Bayonetta frames and a pruned top, Bieber opted for a matching stone gray set of a fitted tube top and baggy pants. She layered an oversized leather blazer and carried a patent leather tote under her arm. This "it" girl kept her accessories simple and chic, sticking to her trusty black mini sunglasses, gold earrings, and signature "B" pendant necklace (with a morning drink in hand, of course). What made her look so attractive on this day was her matte skin and brunette hair pulled back into a low bun in a pretty girlie style.
While there is much to love about Bieber's attire (blazer! The matching set!) ), my eye can't help but be drawn to her shoes. Unlike her previous regular footwear, like kitten heels and chunky boots, Bieber switched things up with what appear to be see-through socks. Upon further inspection, however, we discovered that the road mogul was wearing Christopher Esber's white "Minette Flats."
Fashion has always favored "unconventional" shoes. In recent years, the trend has been as endless as Maison Margiela's hoofed toe tabis and Bottega Veneta's cartoonishly chunky rainboots. Last summer saw the peak of a new shoe trend, the sheer flat shoe, popularized by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's fashion label The Row and later by brands like Sandy Liang. Celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, were quick to endorse these barely-there shoes at the time.
Hate them or love them, one thing is for sure: Bieber's touch almost always turns to gold, and 2024 will once again be the year of the controversial mesh flat.
