Taylor Swift and Blake Lively Wear Quirky, Colorful Looks at Latest Girls' Night Out

Fact: No one dresses for a girls' night out better than Taylor Swift and Blake Lively. The proof is in the paparazzi. When they are photographed together in New York City, there are two things we can be sure of: that Swift and Lively are somehow coordinated and that there is some sort of Easter egg hidden in Swift's attire. (And that Swift's attire hides a certain kind of Easter egg (bonus points if she's headed to a scene-stealing Italian restaurant with her famous friends in tow). For example, Swift's 34th birthday party. Swift's Clio Pepiatto was dressed in a "Midnights"-style motif. Last night, the two hit the town again, this time Swift and Lively wore colorful outfits

that beautifully expressed their personal styles. They kept the coordinating spirit alive with a yellow-striped Louis Vuitton monogram bag and Christian Ruivichon suede pumps that could have come from Serena Van Der Woodsen's closet.

As for Swift, she opted for a crushed velvet mini dress from Sweet Jane and accessorized with a necklace from Foundlay (one of her go-to brands). The Grammy-winning singer completed her look with Jimmy Choo x Jean Paul Gaultier over-the-knee boots with a tattoo-like motif. Needless to say, Julia Fox was also spotted styling this collaboration, but her boots revealed a bit more skin.

There are two important things to point out here (besides the fact that the two celebs were not wearing coats in the freezing New York temperatures and the fact that Lively is tightless!) Let's break those two down. First, Swift and Lively are twins again, albeit less conspicuously than usual, and both opted for brightly colored, quirky ensembles for their night out, which seemed a bit out of place in winter New York.

Despite the buzz around quiet luxury and understated basics, Swift and Lively opted for 2010s fashions that ran a bit counter to today's trends. Swift's crushed velvet skater-inspired dress is something every millennial, or late-gen generation, would love to wear. Lively's look, on the other hand, is largely Jess from the "New Girl" twee vibe that also dominated the 2010s. Lively and Swift are known for doing fashion that is uniquely their own, and their latest GNO outfits feel like they are embracing their own style without trying to launch a new micro-trend.

Also, as one might expect, there are a few hidden Easter eggs in Swift's costumes. Swift fans quickly noticed that the songwriter was wearing yet another green dress. At Monday night's Golden Globe Awards, Swift (whose concert film was nominated for Best Motion Picture and Best Box Office Performance) wore a glittery green gown by Gucci. Fans jumped at the chance that the snake-colored dress might be a clue that Reputation's re-recorded release date was near. Swift's choice of Jimmy Choo x Jean Paul Gaultier boots, which also feature a snake motif, may hint at the same thing.

So, once again, Lively and Swift have pieced together the elements of the perfect GNO, from food to fashion, and there will no doubt be more GNOs in 2024.
