Prince William and Princess Kate will be in Boston for three days this week, culminating with the Earthshot Awards ceremony on Friday. Here is a recap of events during their stay in the U.S. so far.

The couple took a commercial British Airways flight for the environment, which was described by fellow passengers as "utterly delightful," Hello. reports.

The royal couple landed in Boston on Wednesday and learned about the racist incident at Buckingham Palace this week.

Lady Susan Hussey, one of William's godmothers, asked a black guest a racist question, apologized and resigned.

The Palace responded within hours and a spokesman for the Prince of Wales said: "We were really disappointed to hear about the guest's experience. Racism has no place in our society. Such remarks are unacceptable and the person was right to step down immediately" (via People).

The Welsh couple remained engaged as planned, and William released a statement on social media.

"On this, my first overseas visit since my grandmother's death, I want to thank the people of Massachusetts and especially Boston for the many tributes paid to the late Queen. My grandmother remembered very fondly her visit in 1976 for the bicentennial of the Queen's birth." [My grandmother was one of life's optimists. That is why we launched the Earthshot Prize last year with the ambition of creating a truly global platform to inspire hope and urgent optimism for the future of our planet."

He concluded: [Thank you, Boston. Thank you, Boston. We are so grateful to be able to host the second year of the Earthshot Prize in this wonderful city. Princess Catherine and I can't wait to see many of you in the coming days."

The royal couple was then welcomed by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu at City Hall, followed by a public event with incoming Governor Maura Healey outside City Hall.

The Welsh couple paid tribute to Boston's greenery. The princess wore a Burberry tartan-check green dress under a forest green coat by Alexander McQueen, accessorized with green suede heeled pumps and a matching Mulberry handbag.

The prince wore a green tie and a blue-green wool coat.

Defying the wind and rain, William said in his speech Princess Catherine and I are delighted to be with you today for our first engagement in the great city of Boston as we begin the countdown to this Friday's Earthshot Awards ceremony."[23

Royal photographer Chris Jackson gave further insight into the weather via Instagram, where he wrote on a photo of the princess, "The Princess of Wales looks up during a torrential downpour at the 'Welcome to Earthshot' event at Boston Town Hall today (I'm still drying off)," he captioned the photo.

As royal expert Christine Ross previously predicted for Marie Claire, Bostonians flocked in droves to catch a glimpse of the royal family. They held umbrellas, smart phone cameras, and signs professing their love for the couple.

Finally, with only three days in Beantown, the Welsh couple packed one last must-do event before ending their days: a Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat basketball game at the TD Garden, with Pete I sat courtside to watch the game, as did Pete Davidson and Emily Rutakowski.

For this event, the princess once again wore a vintage royal blue Chanel blazer from her October engagement.

The sporty royals looked like they were having the time of their lives.
