Trailer for Netflix documentary on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's long-awaited Netflix documentary is fast approaching.

After it was recently revealed that this behind-the-scenes look at their lives will hit our small screens on December 8, the streaming platform has just released the first trailer for the show and I am trembling with anticipation.

The roughly one-minute trailer is littered with never-before-seen candid photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, official photos of royal events, and sequences of the two speaking separately to the camera.

Over a photo of Meghan sobbing into his hand, Harry says, "No one can see what happens behind closed doors."

He is then shown saying, "I had to do everything I could to protect my family."

Princess Meghan turns to the camera and says, "If the stakes are this high, wouldn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

She asks.

The title of the documentary is "Harry & Meghan," consistent with what the Duchess had previously described as their love story.

In an interview with Variety in October, Princess Meghan said of working with director Liz Garbus, "It's nice to be able to give our story to someone else. But that is not why we tell this story. We are entrusting our story to someone else, and that means through their lens."

Prior to its release, the documentary caused a stir among royal officials. They seem concerned about what the estranged royal couple might reveal about palace life and those at the top, especially the King and Queen and Prince William and Kate.

The release of "Harry & Meghan" will coincide with the Duke of Sussex's memoir, "Spare," due out on January 10.
