Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary is really underway.

The release date is set for December 8, and a first-look trailer was released yesterday, December 1.

According to Netflix (opens in new tab), the series is set to explore "the span of their relationship, from the early days of their courtship to the challenges and controversies that prompted them to step down from the royal family."

One royal expert is surprised and somewhat shocked (as am I) that the show will actually happen.

"I can't believe they are putting this kind of content out there," Kinsey Schofield told Express. 'Once you expose yourself like this . There's no going back. Your perception of yourself changes. You seem more accessible now. You are officially a Kardashian."

The timing of the trailer's release was in the middle of Prince William and Princess Kate's long-awaited trip to Boston. This is no coincidence, says Scofield.

"I think Netflix was trying to use the publicity of William and Catherine's visit to steal the headlines. It's a shame because the Crown Prince and Princess haven't visited the area in nearly a decade and 'Earthshots' is something to be genuinely proud of," she says.

"It's sad that Harry is fanning the flames instead of allowing his brother to come out. He continues to be very bitter.

Scofield has some pretty grim predictions about the outcome of putting out this documentary." The office can accept it, she argued, "but royal watchers are already very unhappy that this is being released so close to the Queen's death." The public may turn against them, she argued."

Furthermore, regarding the inclusion in the trailer of a photo of Kate and William looking at the camera and looking a little upset, Scofield said, "Kate's family would never take footage of Princess Meghan or have her appear on a TV show that millions of people watch without her permission. It is vulgar."
