Netflix Documentary on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reportedly Coming in December

I'm stunned. [A Netflix documentary about the real lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly be released in December.

People confirmed the news but did not elaborate on their sources. They also did not cite an exact release date, but that hardly matters-December is something like two minutes, anyway.

The "Fly on the Wall" documentary had been in the press since 2021, but the Duchess of Sussex first mentioned its existence in an October 2022 interview with Variety.

In other words, she spoke about the series' director, Liz Garbus.

"It's great to be able to give our story to someone else, and that veteran director is someone I've admired for a long time.

"But that's not why we tell this story. We are entrusting our story to someone else, and that means through their lens"

.

"It's interesting. My husband has never worked in the industry. For me, I've worked on Suits, so it's been great to be surrounded by a lot of creative energy and see how people collaborate and share their perspectives. I really enjoyed it."

Ever since news broke that a behind-the-scenes reality show about the Sussex family was about to come to fruition, there has been a lot of unrest among the British royal family and their entourage. Perhaps there is concern about what the California-based couple might reveal about the royal family.

However, there are several reasons why I think the royal family can probably relax about the upcoming release.

First, royal family expert Omid Scobie (who often serves as the unofficial spokesman for the Sussexes) believes that their media project - Harry's memoir and this documentary - will target tabloids rather than corporations.

Second, there were major concerns about season 5 of The Crown.

And third, The Crown has filmed similar documentaries before. In The Queen: Her Life (open in new tab), Andrew Morton details the Royal Family, a 90-minute program that aired in 1969, and Elizabeth R, a documentary about the late queen that aired in 1992.

I rest my case.
