Prince Harry may not be the only voice heard in his memoir, Spare, scheduled for release on January 10, 2023. According to several news outlets, the Duke of Sussex has contacted friends and former lovers to share their experiences for his forthcoming book. The Telegraph reports that some were willing to help, but The Sun reports that others were "stunned" by the prince's request.

"Harry reached out," one unnamed source told The Sun. 'Friends and girlfriends were polite and said they would think about it, but in the end most said no.' Harry felt it was ironic that they would hit the roof if they felt like talking to the media, but now he wants their help when he needs it"

Before marrying Meghan Markle in 2018, Harry had two high-profile relationships, Chelsea Davey, whom he dated from 2004 to 2010, and Cressida Bonas, whom he dated from 2012 to 2014; in 2016 he met Meghan and they began dating.

"Both have avoided speaking to the press about what their relationships with the royal family have been like in the years since their respective breakups, and it is unclear whether the duke has commented in his forthcoming book," Tatler reported.

Davie admitted to The Times (open in new tab) in 2016 that he suffered from the media attention surrounding their relationship, saying, "Yes, it was hard. It was crazy, scary, uncomfortable. When it was bad, it was very hard. I couldn't cope. I was young and trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible."

Interestingly, Tatler, through its publisher Penguin Random House, tells us that the book will be known in the US as Spare, but will be published in the UK as His Words, His Story
