As for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, no matter what the haters say, the double standard is glaring. [Zara and Mike Tindall made the same gesture without anyone's concern, but just as they received incomprehensible criticism for holding hands during a service for the late Queen, the Sussexes are not the only royals who use their prestigious status to make money. Why is that?

Royal reporter Omid Scobie also wondered why, and explored the issue in his latest Yahoo! column.

According to Scobie, in recent weeks Zara Tindall has reportedly earned about 500,000 pounds ($570,000) by appearing in promotional campaigns for the brands she ambassadors.

As for Zara's husband Mike, he recently appeared on the British reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here". Mike can earn £500,000.

The Tyndalls are no strangers to brand deals and earn far more than mere athletes with no royal connections, Scobie notes. (Zara is an equestrian and Mike is a former rugby player.)

The criticism often leveled at the Sussexes in particular is that, unlike the Tyndalls, they hold royal titles, but those same critics are oddly cavalier about royal protocol with literally anyone in the royal family.

Scobie also points out, for example, that Sarah, Duchess of York, is making money off her daughter Princess Eugenie's wedding: they both have royal titles. Hmmm!
