Prince Harry easily turns down a meeting with Prince William with two words.

While 2019 seems like a long time ago, it's hard to forget Prince Harry's (and Meghan Markle's) interview with ITV's Tom Bradby during their royal tour in South Africa. In that interview, Harry famously told Bradby that he and Meghan were "struggling" with the pressures of being royal society members and that he and his brother Prince William were experiencing "good days" and "bad days" in their relationship.

After the interview aired, Prince William contacted his brother via WhatsApp and asked to meet, according to Valentine Rowe's new book, Courtiers: but Harry, who was initially open to meeting, eventually gave a two-word In a blunt reply, the book claims, he refused to meet with her.

"The day after the documentary aired, William WhatsAp'd his brother and asked if he could go see him," Law writes in the book.

"Initially, Harry agreed. Initially, Harry agreed. William explained that he needed to keep his schedule open and that meant talking to his private secretary.

Worried that news of their meeting would leak from the royal staff, Harry simply replied, "Don't come."

"He was so worried that William's team would leak the visit to the press that he would rather not see his brother than risk it appearing in the papers," Law wrote.

It adds that "the failure to meet in person was "distressing" news for those close to both brothers and highlights how difficult it is for some members of "The Firm" to communicate directly at high levels of surveillance," The Mirror reported.

Only a few months later, in January 2020, Harry and Meghan returned as active members of the royal family, but the rift between the brothers unfortunately only deepened. After the death of their grandmother, the Queen, last month, they were able to spend time together, and two days after the Queen's death, the brothers and their wives took a joint walk in Windsor, much to the delight of peace-loving royal followers. [A royal source told the Mirror that "talk of a truce between the prince and the duke will only be temporary," adding that members working in the royal family are waiting with bated breath for the release of Harry's forthcoming memoir. 'There is still a serious mistrust in the air, and no cause for it to change. The truth is that until all the cards are on the table, there is little point in pursuing the restoration of relations."
