Kate Middleton on her children's (frank) reactions to her engagement photos.

There is nothing more wonderful than the candor of children. The Welsh family, consisting of the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were recently looking through their family photo album and happened upon a photo of William and Kate from their 2010 engagement.

When Kate visited Wales this week - her first visit to Wales since William and Prince William became Prince and Princess of Wales on September 9 - she told a confidant who was in attendance that her three children saw the images and "the kids looked back at the pictures and said, " Mom, you look so young!" They say, "Oh, my God! [William, who met as classmates at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2001 and had known each other for nearly a decade, proposed to his longtime girlfriend Kate in Kenya in October 2010. The engagement was announced on November 16 of that year, and the couple wed five months later on April 29, 2011.

While visiting Wales, Kate spotted someone carrying a flag bearing a photo of her and William's engagement from 12 years earlier, according to People.

"Oh my, is that from our engagement?" Kate said in a video shared by TikTok user mariahedges8.

"We laugh about this all the time. We've been married for 11 years, but we've been together twice that long, so it's extraordinary."

William and Kate have a deep history with Wales and, poignantly, chose to visit the country basically as soon as they could, the day after the royal mourning period ended on September 26. William was working as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue unit.

"It's nice to be back in Wales. It's where we lived before we had a family or anything, so it's a really special day," Kate said.

For his part, William is learning his native language, said the Rev. Stephen Bunting, who hosted the couple at St. Thomas Church in Swansea, a food bank and baby supply hub for needy families, according to People.

"He talked about learning Welsh and shared some Welch phrases he is trying to do," Bunting said. 'He's throwing himself wholeheartedly into his new role. The fact that he has been here straight from day one says it all."
