Diana was reportedly distrustful of Camilla from the beginning, telling royal writer Andrew Morton about her 1981 wedding day, "Of course I knew she was there. I looked for her. I walked down the aisle and found Camilla in pale gray and a pillbox hat with a veil over it. I still remember it vividly" (via Good Housekeeping).

Knowing everything we know now, one news commentary on the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana sounds particularly eerie now. The following words were spoken by a commentator during a horse-drawn carriage parade down The Mall Road in London and unearthed by a new documentary, "The Princess," which will air on HBO Max on August 13.

"Under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Parker Bowles, the escort," the journalist narrated. 'Prince Charles and Princess Diana stayed with him and his wife Camilla in Wiltshire twice at the end of the year.' So they are friends as they run the Mall".

Indeed, as reported by Good Housekeeping, Andrew Parker Bowles, then in command, led the couple's ceremonial escort on their wedding day.

The commentator did not seem to know much about Charles and Camilla's romantic past (well, including their future), but it is now clear to all that while Charles may have been "among friends" that day, Diana certainly was not.
