As first discovered by royal reporter Chris Shipp, Camilla Parker Bowles was asked at an event today if she would miss Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down as senior royals. Her reaction was very interesting, and I encourage you to watch.

The exact words were: "Do you miss Harry and Meghan?" The Duchess of Cornwall, apparently not anticipating the question, paused for a moment and immediately said, "Mmm." Then she answered emphatically, "Of course," and went straight to the event.

To state the very obvious here, this reaction probably had a lot to do with the fact that she had not anticipated the question, was on the move, and had to come up with something tactful on the spot. It is interesting, however, that she hesitates. I don't think she expected to be asked such a personal question (and perhaps the reporter was purposely trying to surprise her; I don't know). Her reaction was also very impromptu ("Course" instead of "Of course"). She also doesn't say anything to the effect of "We'll still see you two." Of course, we'll see them (although Harry's relationship with his father is reportedly currently "strained (open in new tab)"). True story: this has been stressful for everyone involved.
