Taylor Swift's Mother Andrea Diagnosed with Brain Tumor

Taylor Swift shared some incredibly sad news in her latest interview with Variety (opens in new tab): her mother, Andrea, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Swift revealed that her mother had been treated for cancer several years ago, but the type was not specified. The cancer has since returned for a second time, and Andrea was undergoing chemotherapy while Swift's upcoming Netflix documentary "Miss Americana" was being filmed. The brain tumor "was discovered during treatment," Swift said.

Swift admitted that the limited tour for her latest album, "Lover" (four stadiums in the U.S. and festivals in Europe, including Glastonbury), was planned so she could be near her mother. I wanted to perform in places I haven't been to very often and do things I've never done, like Glastonbury," she told Variety (opens in new tab). 'But I also wanted to do the best work I could right now with everything that was going on at home. I wanted to figure out a way to do both of those things."

"I wanted to be able to do both," she said.

"I mean, you never know what's going to happen," Swift continued.

"We don't even know what kind of treatment we're going to choose. It was just a decision that I had to make at the time, in the moment, given the circumstances."

Swift, who sang about her mother's illness in the gorgeous Lavar song "Soon You'll Get Better," told the magazine, "Everybody loves their mother." She said. But for me, she's the one who really guides me. Almost every decision I make, I talk to my mom first. So talking to her about her illness was obviously a really big deal."

[10 [Andrea's brain tumor was frightening. Swift said, "The symptoms that people with brain tumors experience are nothing like we ever experienced with her cancer." 'So it was a really difficult time for our family. We send our love to Andrea, Taylor, and the Swift family.
