In what may be the biggest royal snub since the Queen wore a brooch (opens in new tab) given by the Obamas to meet President Donald Trump, a new viral video has been released in which Prince Charles appears to completely ignore Vice President Mike Pence (opens in new tab). (Opens in new tab) The exchange, or lack thereof, occurred at a Holocaust remembrance event in Israel, which Pence's team claims was a major misunderstanding, but the video... It tells a story.

In a video shared by Twitter user Joshua Phillipson from the live feed of Holocaust nonprofit Yad Vashem, Prince Charles spots Pence, looks him in the eye, lets his gaze pass and then turns to Israel shaking hands with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. As the camera passes by Pence, you can see that he has already raised his hand to shake Prince Charles' hand and has to subtly retract it. According to the audio (which opens in a new tab), Prince Charles acknowledges him by saying, "Mr. Pence," but continues on.

Prince Charles is not the first royal to thumb his nose at the Trump administration in recent months. While the ostensibly politically indifferent queen is friendly to Trump in order to maintain strong U.S.-British relations, Princess Anne was caught on camera in December seemingly admonishing her mother (open in a new tab) for not being particularly friendly to Trump and his wife. And Meghan Markle, no longer a "senior" royal, once said she would move to Canada if Trump were elected (opens in new tab). (Now that I think about it, that seems oddly prescient? ) "This is not true. The Vice President and Prince Charles spoke before entering the event venue and also after his remarks," he wrote, and published a photo of the two laughing together.

But something must be pointed out:

In an election year that is already controversial (open in new tab), everyone can agree that, oh, this happened. Both Pence's supporters and detractors have noted that Charles appears to have ignored him.
