Queen cancels annual engagement last minute due to ill health.

The Queen (open in new tab) had to withdraw from one of her annual events this week due to illness.

But not to worry: A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told the Daily Mail (opens in new tab) that the queen's illness is just a "mild cold." A royal official also added that the cancellation was "nothing to worry about."

Worry or not, the event was definitely atypical for Queen Elizabeth (opens in new tab). At issue was Queen Elizabeth's annual visit to the Norfolk branch of the Women's Society (opens in new tab), located near Sandringham Manor. When she canceled her attendance, the officially announced reason was simple and one that everyone could relate to: she was "not in the mood."

That's an entirely fair attitude for anyone, but especially so for a 93-year-old who makes literally hundreds of public appearances each year. In addition to the Queen's busy diary (opens in new tab), the Queen has also been in the news a lot, including her son Prince Andrew's much-criticized TV interview about Jeffrey Epstein (opens in new tab) and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step down from their work as senior members of the royal family ( (opens in new tab)), addressing several recent high-profile issues for the royal family, including the decision of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to step down from their work as senior members of the royal family.

Canceling the event would not have been an easy decision for the Queen, who attends the annual gathering at the West Newton Village Hall as part of her winter residency in Sandringham (opens in new tab). During the gathering, the Queen will "enjoy tea and cake with the ladies of the WI and listen to a speech given this year by BBC news anchor Huw Edwards," the Daily Mail reports.

Hopefully the Queen will get some much needed rest and be back to 100 percent physical condition soon.
