If you're like me, with the clock ticking down to 5 p.m. and finding absolutely nothing to do after work, you know how it feels to be hooked on Netflix's latest offering (opens in new tab). The streaming service continues to release big titles during its quarantine, like "Sweet Magnolias" (opens in new tab) and "Too Hot to Handle" (opens in new tab). On Friday, Netflix delivered the first season of "Space Force," a 10-episode series starring Steve Carell, Lisa Kudrow (open in new tab), Jane Lynch, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsom, and Jimmy O. Yang. And although it has only just begun, fans are already wondering if there will be a second "Space Force."

The show follows Mark Naird (Steve Carell), a four-star general assigned to lead the Space Force, the sixth branch of the newly created U.S. military, as he takes on the challenge of getting the United States to land on the moon again. The former "Office" showrunner is in charge of the screenplay, and the film is full of jokes and controversy. The following is what we know so far about the possibility of the next film. Now, this is one of those "which would you rather hear first, the good news or the bad news?" situations. Because sometimes you have to rip the band-aid off.

The bad news: Netflix has not yet given the go-ahead for a second season. Perhaps because it is too early for the streaming service to determine if it will be a hit with viewers. (Typically, Netflix waits at least a few weeks after release to confirm or deny the next season of a new show.)

There is some good news: the show's creators have a few tricks up their sleeve. Greg Daniels, co-creator of the show, spoke to Digital Spy (opens in new tab) about what future episodes of the show will look like. He said, "Technically, we'll see. To not waste any time, we already have a couple of scriptwriters thinking about what we're going to do in the future." I like their thinking.

Carell himself was asked if the upcoming plot will intertwine with everything that is happening in the real world. He told Entertainment Weekly (open in new tab), "If I come back for another season, I'm thinking about the plot line and where I want to go from there. And then we'll decide if that takes into account what's going on right now.

When the new season will be, unfortunately, is yet to be determined. With such a stellar cast, everyone is likely to have crazy schedules, and the current pandemic (open in new tab) doesn't make the situation any easier.

At least with cliffhangers like these guys, the second season is bound to start with a bang.
