The detective in you is about to come to life: next week, Netflix will deliver a reboot of the classic true crime show "Unsolved Mysteries" (opens in new tab). Created in 1987 by Terry Dan Muller and John Cosgrove, the original ran on NBC for 10 years before moving to CBS, Lifetime, and Spike TV, where it ended in 2010. In that time, the series has featured everything from paranormal to unbelievable (and seemingly unsolvable!) crimes, the show boasted a total of 600 episodes dealing with real-life unsolved mysteries.

The first season of the reboot will air in two parts. The first six episodes of "Unsolved Mysteries" will premiere on Netflix on July 1. Each episode will focus on one case (the original show had four).

"We at 21 Laps, along with our partners at Cosgrove/Meurer Productions, made an early decision to dig deeper into storytelling and build a more intimate connection with our audience," according to IndieWire (opens in new tab). said producer Shawn Levy. 'It takes time to do that. The people we are interviewing on screen are often re-experiencing deeply painful experiences that are traumatic and not easy to talk about. Each of these new episodes will focus on a single case and will be produced, directed, filmed, music and edited at a high level. I think audiences will be very satisfied."

The other six episodes do not yet have a confirmed release date, but we will keep you updated.

That dramatic piano piece still gives me chills. All that's missing is the narration by longtime host Robert Stack. (Stack narrated the most fascinating mysteries from 1988-2003 and was the longest-lived host of the series.)

According to PEOPLE, the mysteries highlighted include everything from supernatural UFO sightings to the unsolved death of newlywed Ray Rivera, whose body was found in an abandoned conference room eight days after he disappeared. This will be a show you don't want to watch alone.
