Prince Harry mentions the "Black Lives" movement in his virtual speech at the Diana Awards.

Prince Harry delivered a special video message at the Virtual Diana Awards today. It was part of an annual awards ceremony honoring young people in the UK who carry on the late Princess Diana's legacy of philanthropy, and took place on her 59th birthday.

"I am very proud to be part of these awards. This award honors my mother's legacy and brings out the best in people like you," Harry said in his speech. You all do such amazing work, and in the midst of great uncertainty, you find within yourselves the strength and inspiration to leave a positive mark on the world." And I am delighted that the Diana Award can help you do that. [I know my mother has been an inspiration to many of you. Like many of you, my mother never took the easy, popular, or comfortable path. But she stood up for something, and she stood up for those who needed it," the Duke continued. 'Right now, we are seeing pain and trauma surfacing all over the world, where division, isolation, and anger reign. Yet I see the greatest hope in people like you. I have faith in the future of our world and in our ability to heal.

Harry also touched on the "Black Lives Matter" movement currently taking place across the United States, where he and his wife, Princess Meghan (opens in new tab), feel that their respective generations have not done enough to dismantle institutional racism in the US and around the world spoke about the matter. Although both Harry and Meghan are no longer active royals since they abdicated this spring, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain the only royals (opens in new tab) who have spoken out on the current fight for racial equality in the United States.

"My wife recently said that our generation and those before us have not done enough to right the wrongs of the past. I, too, am sorry - sorry we haven't made the world the place you deserve," Harry said. 'Institutional racism doesn't exist in our society, but it's still prevalent. In order to create a better world for all of you, we must acknowledge unconscious prejudice without condemning it."

Harry added that he and Princess Meghan "remain committed to being part of the solution and part of the change you are leading."

Before handing over the microphone, he concluded, " The time is now, and we know you can do it."
