Prince George's godmother, Julia Samuel, pays tribute to a family tradition started by Princess Diana

Prince George may never meet his grandmother (opens in new tab), Princess Diana, but thanks to his godmother, he is getting a taste of her sense of humor. Julia Samuel, who was close to Princess Diana, recently appeared on a podcast called "How To Fail With Elizabeth Day" (opens in new tab) and revealed that she is following a funny tradition started by the late Princess Diana.

"I do to George what [Diana] did to us. I come in a little bit run over by the magnitude of the gift that William has to spend days assembling."

"I'm not sure if it's a gift, but it's a gift. And when you put all the machinery together, it makes a rattling sound and the lights flash."

George is a big fan of this tradition: "It makes me laugh and it makes George laugh," Samuel said.

Samuel said of his memories of Diana: "She had a really great laugh. It was a kind of giggle, it was cheeky, and it lit up the room." She added, "And she was a great hugger." [George and Diana had a strong bond, Samuel says." He was funny, feisty, and sassy, and she [Diana] would have loved him very much.

"Princess Diana would have loved him very much.
