Netflix's "Unsolved Mysteries," Will There Be a Season 2?

The revival hit of the true crime mystery show Unsolved Mysteries (opens in new tab) is exactly what we need right now. There's nothing more fun than immersing yourself for an hour in an unsolved mystery (or alien presence (opens in new tab)), and Netflix rebooted this popular franchise on July 1, featuring stories so wild, unprecedented, and bizarre that they seem more like the plot of a courtroom drama than reality The series delivered six episodes that featured stories so wild, unprecedented, and bizarre that they seemed more like the plot of a courtroom drama than reality.

If you are like me, you probably read all six episodes in one sitting and were not only shocked but left wanting more. The good news: the rest of the unsolved mysteries will be available soon (open in new tab). The bad news: you'll have to wait a bit.

Currently, Netflix has not announced anything about a second season. The first season, however, is not over yet. (Surprise!) A rep for the series told Decider (opens in new tab) that a second round of episodes for season one will come sometime this year.

According to series co-creator Terry Dan Muller, the second round will feature two "international" mysteries. Speaking to the New York Post (opens in new tab), Müller said, "We have a team of researchers who target different countries. In the second six episodes, which will premiere later this year, we have two episodes that were filmed internationally." Right now we are following a case in Brazil. Our story producers are working with local people dealing with language issues. We delivered the show to Netflix three months ago to do [the dubbing] in many languages because it will be distributed to hundreds of countries."

More exposure means more chances of solving the case. Seriously: Muller told USA Today (opens in new tab) that within a week of the show's Netflix debut, the team had already received 20 credible tips to solve some of the cases featured in the first six episodes. [Anyway, until the new episodes are delivered, I'm going to do more research on the mysterious note (opens in new tab) that was taped to the back of Ray Rivera's computer.
