Naya Rivera, whose son was found alone in a boat on a lake in California, was reported missing.

7/9 3:40 p.m. Update: Authorities announced Thursday afternoon that the search for Rivera has been changed from a rescue operation to a recovery operation. Rivera is presumed to have drowned. Deputy Chris Dyer said, "The goal is to return Ms. Rivera to her family so they can find closure."

Original CNN reports that "Glee" star Naya Rivera is missing and her 4-year-old son, Josie, was found sleeping alone in a boat on Piru Lake in Southern California on Wednesday evening. At a press conference, Ventura County Sheriff's Office spokesman Eric Bushaw said, "There is no evidence of criminal activity at this time," Guardian reported (opens in new tab), adding, "This could be a drowning case."

According to CNN, Rivera rented a boat with her son Wednesday afternoon and went out on the lake together. About three hours later, Josie was found asleep on the drifting boat by another boater, who called authorities. Rivera's son told investigators that he and his mother went swimming, but Rivera never returned to the boat. Josie was wearing a life vest, but the adult life vest was found on the boat along with Rivera's identification.

Search efforts were suspended Wednesday night and will resume "at dawn" Thursday morning, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said.

Several of Rivera's "Glee" co-stars have reacted to her disappearance on social media. Heather Morris, who played Brittany Pierce along with Rivera's Santana Lopez, wrote on her Instagram story, "We need all the prayers we can get to bring Naya back to us. We need your love and light." Harry Shum Jr. who played Mike Chang tweeted, "Praying," and Demi Lovato, who guest starred as Dani, wrote on her Instagram Story, "Please pray that @nayarivera is found safe." Iqbal Teva, who played Principal Figgins, wrote along with an article about Rivera's disappearance, "Oh God... Mercy... Please..." He tweeted.
