Meghan Markle turns 39 today, August 4, Prince William and Kate Middleton posted on social media. Along with a sweet photo of Meghan smiling with her young child, the post on the Cambridges' official Instagram and Twitter accounts read, "Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today!"

The birthday celebration comes amidst a series of revelations about the relationship between the Sussexes and the Cambridges that will be revealed by the forthcoming Sussex biography, Finding Freedom. According to authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Kate ignored Megan at the March Commonwealth service (opens in new tab). Scobie and Durand write that "Meghan tried to make eye contact with Kate, but the Duchess barely acknowledged her."

Biographers also report that William offended Harry with a derogatory comment about Meghan (opens in new tab): "Take as long as you need to get to know this girl," William reportedly told his brother. Harry heard in the last two words "this girl" a tone of snobbery that was abhorrent to his approach to the world," Scobie and Duran say.

The Duchess of Sussex also received birthday wishes from the Queen and her in-laws, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.The RoyalFamily's official Instagram and Twitter accounts were used to celebrate the opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge in June 2018 the Queen and Princess Meghan during their visit to Cheshire to open the bridge. The birthday message was almost identical to Kate and William's and read, "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!"

Meanwhile, Charles and Camilla shared a gorgeous close-up of Meghan on Instagram and Twitter. Again, they kept their message simple, "Happy birthday, Duchess of Sussex!"
