Instead, Netflix's latest series, "The Duchess," featuring a different Catherine, namely Catherine Ryan, is proving to be, as the Brits say, a ho-hum good time. The six episodes follow Catherine, a melodramatic single mother living in London with an over-the-top sense of style, a unique relationship with her daughter Olive, and a deep fear of commitment. Catherine debates having a second child with her ex-boyfriend, a fallen boy band member. The only problem is that Catherine can't stand her ex, causing an awkward conflict. The show stars Canadian actress and comedian Katherine Ryan, who also wrote the series and served as one of its executive producers. She is better known across the pond for hosting panels and comedy shows in the UK, including Comedy Central UK's Roast Battle and Your Face or Mine with Jimmy Carr.
