Tatler Magazine Edits Controversial Profile of Kate Middleton in Response to Palace Objections

Remember the controversial cover story (opens in new tab) about Kate Middleton in Tatler magazine (opens in new tab)?

After the article, which also claimed that Kate felt "exhausted and trapped" by her increased workload after the Sussexes stepped down, was published in May, Kensington Palace said the article contained "a full load of inaccurate facts and false misrepresentations" (subsequently, Tatler stated that the article "contains a full load of inaccurate facts and false misrepresentations.") (Tatler later defended writer Anna Pasternak's reporting, saying that the Palace was aware that the article was in progress.) Kate and William's lawyer also contacted the magazine (open in new tab), but Tattler said their legal claims were "without merit."

Some of the profile's most inflammatory claims have now been removed from the online version, including describing Kate as "dangerously thin," her mother Carol Middleton as a "terrible snob," and her sister Pippa Middleton as "dignified and too hardworking." A passage claiming that Kate once had a poster of William on her wall was also removed, as was a claim that Prince William was "absolutely incandescent" about Meghan and Harry stepping down from the senior royal family.

An unnamed source at Condé Nast, Tatler's publisher, reportedly told the Mail on Sunday that "Tatler has a longstanding relationship with the royal family and wanted to end it amicably."
