In these times of anxiety, uncertainty, and general unrest, perhaps the only antidote is a gentle reality show about ordinary people doing their best and being kind to one another in a tent in the English countryside. Enter: The Great British Baking Show, and while the COVID-19 craze has certainly had an impact on the show, it is still, as you know, an uplifting break from reality. So much so that the judges, hosts, and contestants are each required to be quarantined for two weeks before moving away from their loved ones and into the "bubble" of The Great British Baking Show, from Paul Hollywood's handshake victory to the grief of the showstopper's underbaking, The usual emotional roller coaster of emotions can be expected.

Sura is a London-based pharmacy technician who doesn't shy away from adding floral flavors to her culinary creations. As well as baking, she has a passion for architecture and travel, and her celebrity hero in the cake at the season premiere's Showstopper Challenge is Sir David Attenborough.

Dave works as an armored security guard and is a baking enthusiast who enjoys filling his kitchen with professional kitchen tools. His other hobbies include cars, DIY projects, and pets (cats and dogs), and his choice for anthropomorphic hero in the form of a cake was Tom DeLonge of Blink 182.

This music teacher and avid swimmer is a huge history buff, and his love of French pastries and Georgian recipes is sure to entice the judges. For example, his sculpture of Marie Antoinette's cake in the season premiere was stunning. [As a London-based accountant, she is also known for giving homemade marmalade to her loved ones. Her cake-ified celebrity hero was Lupita Nyongo, dressed in a stunningly realistic fondant gown.

Peter, the youngest of this year's amateur bakers, is an accounting student in finance. Originally from Scotland, he began baking at the age of 12, inspired by the first season of The Great British Baking Show. Peter dedicated his first showstopper to Sir Chris Hoy, an Olympic cyclist from Scotland.

A digital manager and volunteer for Samaritans, the UK's crisis hotline, Laura spends her free time watching and listening to musicals and performing on stage. She is also a self-proclaimed organizing whiz and has a talent for keeping her cool under pressure. Speaking of "under pressure," her cake bust was in the shape of Freddie Mercury in a yellow jacket.

Mark's science-based baking journey began with perfecting a lemon drizzle cake and has since progressed to creating multi-layered wedding cakes. He is a project manager for a public health research program, and a celebrity hero true to his scientific background is Charles Darwin.

Based in East Sussex, Linda draws much of her inspiration from the world around her, from the family farm where she first learned to make cakes with fresh milk to the local beach and backyard garden. She is the leader of the Retirement Life team and wowed the judges at the first Showstopper Challenge with a Bob Marley bust cake.

No stranger to adventure, Mark is a mountaineer and former landscape photographer. His current challenge is to make his daughters proud with each of his Great British Baking Show creations. The Cornwall-based support worker modeled her cake after David Bowie, complete with full Ziggy Stardust make-up.

A diagnostic radiologist, Lorrière quickly made a name for herself this season when she sprinkled a generous amount of chili powder on the first cake she baked at the Great British Baking Show. In her spare time, she loves to be creative and improvise in the kitchen. The bust that became her showstopper was a tribute to the Jamaican poet Miss Lou.

An accountant by day and beekeeper in her spare time, Mac is a professional pastry chef who incorporates homemade honey into her baked goods. He is a self-taught baker with a knack for measuring ingredients by eye, and in the season premiere he created travel writer Bill Bryson with a cake.

Each of Lottie's cakes is infused with both her perfectionism and her dark humor, both of which would make her stand out in a tent. In her first showstopper, the pantomime producer transformed a skull-shaped cake into a likeness of British film director and journalist Louis Theroux.

Baking professionals Paul and Prue are back to judge all the cakes this season with a combination of their signature brutal honesty and breezy charm. Expect Prue's bold accessories and Paul's reluctant but congratulatory handshake.

While everyone's favorite goth is back for another season of annoying contestants with bad puns in their most stressful moments, Noel Fielding's new partner in comedy crime is actor and comedian Matt Lucas. You may recognize him from "Bridesmaids" and his portrayal of Tweedledee and Tweedledum in "Alice in Wonderland" and its sequels.
