Nearly 23 years have passed since Princess Diana's death, but images of Princess Diana often reference her looks, even on the TikTok set. From the intarsia sweaters of her first years as royalty to her post-divorce glow with Prince Charles, the public continues to be fascinated by her life and the outfits she wore. Historically, it is the latter that has received the most attention. But thanks to a teaser photo from the fourth season of The Crown (open in new tab), her 80s style is now a current hit.

Rowing Blazers (opens in new tab) has taken notice of this special revival. The label, a favorite of today's prep stars, pays tribute to the style of the Princess of Wales in the decade of excess with a collection that recreates some of her greatest hits. The collection will feature wide-leg twill pants, jockey-print sherpa fleece, biker shorts, double-breasted tweed blazers, and the brand's signature rugby shirt.

The real centerpiece of the collection, however, is the re-release of two sweaters closely tied to the style of Princess Di in the 80s: the Warm & Wonderful "Sheep Sweater" and Giles & George's "I'm a Luxury" jumper. [Joanna Osborne, co-designer of Warm & Wonderful, tells BAZAAR.com. 'Princess Diana is still very contemporary and people's interest in her and her family is as strong as ever. She was approachable, vulnerable, and as human as any of us in her fashion choices. Even after all these years, she still has a strong influence on fashion with her unique blend of independence, kindness, and charm in a stylish way"

In the 1980s, Osborne and her partner, Sally Muir, were amazed that their designs were worn by Princess Di at numerous events and made headlines. Osborn added, "We had no idea she had one of our sheep jumpers, and only learned about it when her picture made the front page of the Sunday paper."

Gyles Brandreth of Gyles & George had a similar reaction when he saw Diana wearing the "I'm a Luxury" sweater. 'She was overjoyed, excited, not surprised at all. 'When I met her, I knew she was a fun-loving, laugh-out-loud kind of person. I think she appreciated the jumper's wit, color, look, and style."

Princess Di's style evolved in the 90s, when she was more inclined to the minimalist look that was the trend at the time, but bright colors, quirkiness, and kitschy sweaters were her favorites.

"What's most exciting from my point of view is her style, which I loved the most," Brandreth says. 'It was Diana's smart-casual, casual look. When she wore jumpers like ours, rather than puff sleeves. She liked color. She liked clear lines. I liked her humor. That's what I liked best when I met her. She told me, 'Oh, the jumper makes me smile. ' And the memories I have of Diana make me smile."
