Virtual tour of "The Crown" and "The Queen's Gambit" costume exhibition

In period dramas like "The Crown" and "The Queen's Gambit," clothing and accessories play a major role in setting the mood and characters. To honor the unforgettable costumes and the designers who brought them to life, Gabriele Binder and her team created all the looks for "The Queen's Gambit" (open in new tab) and Amy Roberts and her team worked on "The Crown". [The exhibit, curated by Matthew Jokoboski, will run from October 30 through December 13, and viewers will be able to see everything from chess phenom Elizabeth Harmon's outfit in "The Queen's Gambit" (opens in new tab) to Princess Diana's stunning wedding dress (opens in new tab). Open in new tab) to Princess Diana's stunning wedding gown (open in new tab), viewers can get up close and personal with their favorite looks.

For "The Queen's Gambit," Binder says most of Harmon's costumes were made from scratch in the workshop. The costumes "have to support her sad and happy moments and give her the energy to move the story forward. She has a really minimalist style, and she's really trying to be herself."

Fans of "The Crown" can also see a sneak preview of the costume Gillian Anderson will wear as Margaret Thatcher in season 4 of the series, which will be available on Netflix on November 15.

For those of us who love chess and political drama, this costume will make you do a double-take, and perhaps even get some fans to dress up as their favorite characters from "The Queen's Gambit" and "The Crown" on October 31.
