Valentino Partners with Casa Magazines in New York

Located on Eighth Avenue between West 12th Street and Jane Street is the famed New York City store Casa Magazines, whose windows are getting a new look in collaboration with Valentino through November 19. The fashion brand has just launched a new coffee table book, VLogo Signature, which sheds new light on Valentino's iconic logo.

Sixteen independent magazines from around the world created their own versions of the Valentino logo to give it fresh meaning. Valentino's Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, supervised the book, which combines images of the new V-logo signature through illustrations, sketches, and signatures. Maison Valentino partnered with renowned bookstores and newsstands around the world to create these special installations.

Casa Magazines is the perfect location for these installations. The store has long been a staple of "downtown cool" and a hub for print publications. Fashion, art, and media professionals flock here to browse through more than 2,500 titles.

However, Casa was one of the last great stores, and one of the few magazine retailers still standing today, hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic: no e-commerce, and the foot traffic was devastating. Fortunately, the store had a cult following and the community rose to the occasion. When neighbors heard that the store had closed due to the pandemic, they set up a GoFundMe (opens in new tab) page and donations began to pour in. It has now collected $26,078.

Many donations were accompanied by messages referring to the store as if it were a dear friend. Casa Magazines is the heart and soul of the West Village." We can't let them go."

Casa Magazines stayed in touch with the community during the closing by posting regularly on their rapidly growing Instagram account. Thanks to their fun and personal Instagram, Casa became even more of a destination, with people traveling and taking Instagram photos with owner Mohamed Ahmed and manager Ali Wasim.

Valentino stepped in to support the beloved store by donating a portion of the book's proceeds to Casa. The book will be available from November 10 through November 19 at Casa Magazines (opens in new tab), bookstores and newsstands worldwide, select Valentino boutiques, and online (opens in new tab).
