Ask Barbara Sturm (opens in new tab), 48, an always glamorous German aesthetic doctor, what her secret to youthfulness is, and she'll tout the benefits of an anti-inflammatory lifestyle before convincing you to buy her $300 hyaluronic acid serum . Just last month, she opened a new sanctuary in West Hollywood for Angelenos (all L.A. residents) looking to shine and get fit. And she's already on her way to her next location: London in 2021. Here's how the indomitable CEO keeps stress and its undesirable effects at bay. [My team is spread out in LA, New York, London, and Germany, so I have to get in touch with everyone in the morning. The first thing I do is apply face masks (opens in new tab), make coffee, and prepare breakfast for my 6 year old. Then I check my email and sometimes call my team for a quick workout. I like to combine different types of exercise: walking, biking, Pilates, yoga, tennis, etc. Moving is one of the most important anti-aging tools. It's also a great way to start the day and the endorphins feel great. I try to get 8 hours of sleep and usually do. I am an anti-inflammatory aesthetician and sleep is a major part of my anti-inflammatory lifestyle. Sleep is a time for cells to rejuvenate, including skin cells.

For breakfast, I always eat the bircher muesli I prepared the night before. Drink a latte macchiato (no sugar) and also take Skin Food (opens in new tab) and Repair Food (opens in new tab) supplements.

Spend six minutes on your morning skin care routine. It needs to be simple, and indeed it is. Twice a week, I use a facial scrub (opens in new tab) or enzyme cleanser (opens in new tab) on my face and body in the shower to remove dead skin cells, stimulate circulation and skin renewal. At other times, use a cleanser (open in new tab). It's always a natural look. I love to wear makeup because my mother taught me that healthy, hydrated skin doesn't need makeup and is beautiful in its own right. That is the basic premise of my skincare line and my personal approach as a physician. I focus on glowing skin that makes me feel confident. Every day we are exposed to inflammatory influences ranging from harsh skin care ingredients to UV rays, stress, tailpipe exhaust, HEV rays, smoking, drinking, and sugar. Once we know what inflammatory and anti-inflammatory substances are, we can avoid the bad ones and seek out the good ones. Getting enough sleep, daily exercise, and consuming avocados, salmon, olive oil, tomatoes, nuts, dark berries, and green tea are the cornerstones of my daily self-care routine.

My mother. My mother wore no makeup, had fair skin, and was very youthful and healthy.

My parents taught me to follow my dreams, to be kind to everyone, and to walk with both feet on the ground.

Cosmetic injections by the right person.

Cleansing with a cleanser (opens in new tab) or exfoliating with an enzyme cleanser (opens in new tab), then applying a face mask (opens in new tab) and leaving it on for 10 minutes. If you are wearing a sleeveless dress, use the face mask on your arms; after 10 minutes, rub off (do not use water) to create a superbly hydrated and radiant complexion. At night, cleansing before bed is essential. This is to remove dirt, pathogens, sebum, makeup, and other impurities from the skin before sleep.
