Louis Vuitton Appoints Urs Fischer for New Line

Swiss contemporary artist Urs Fischer has been tapped for Louis Vuitton's latest collaboration. Instead of Louis Vuitton's signature monogram and floral variations, Fischer used hand-drawn versions, or "memory sketches." This acclaimed artist's renewal and deconstruction of the monogram is the "principal decorative motif" of the collection.

The fashion house states that Fisher's designs are particularly noteworthy for their "exquisite tuftage work with velvety materials to create extra texture and tactile relief. Sparing no detail, the collaboration features a new logo designed into each piece using a mix of different applied techniques.

While the line itself spans both ready-to-wear and accessories, the collection is only available in black and white or black and red. However, there are seven special edition bags that LV collectors can look forward to: the Hippo, Keepall, Ontego, two Neverfulls, Speedy, Pochette Accessories, and Beauty Case.

Whenever the Maison Vuitton presents a collection, whether it is a collaboration with a designer or an artist, it is always a great success. Like the collaborations with the late Sprouse, Richard Prince, and Yayoi Kusama, this collection is the perfect marriage of fashion and art.

The new collection is available exclusively online (opens in new tab) and in Louis Vuitton-owned stores.
