Earlier today, after Dr. Jill Biden was officially sworn in as First Lady of the United States, she changed into a chic white coat, white gloves, and rose corsage to wear at the de facto inaugural concert of President Biden and Vice President Harris. (Open in new tab) According to Vanessa Friedman, the dress, designed by Gabriella Hearst, featured embroidered flowers "reflecting the flowers of all the states and territories of the United States and the District of Columbia." Earlier, Dr. Biden wore an ocean blue tweed blazer by New York-based designer Alexandra O'Neill and a matching silk mask.

In normal times, the newly inaugurated President and First Lady would attend a celebratory ball after the ceremony and parade, but this was not the norm these days; due to COVID-19 restrictions, a virtual concert was the only celebratory event. Filmed outside the Lincoln Memorial, it was pieced together with pre-recorded messages from essential workers, service members, and performers from across the country.
