Last September, Jaclyn Rothenberg changed her life in New York City, temporarily leaving her apartment and job to move in with her mother in Georgia. She was offered the position of Georgia communications director for the Biden campaign. The campaign was unconventional in the wake of the pandemic, and by the time Rosenberg joined in early fall, it was primarily remote; early morning strategy meetings via Zoom, social press conferences, and more, Rosenberg was dressed to the nines in a specially made pantsuit. We spoke with the communications professional about the Peach State, her style icons, and how she came to love suits so much.

JR: It wasn't a 9 to 5 work schedule. Sometimes I would work from 7 or 8 in the morning until 1 in the morning. In addition to being the communications director for Georgia, I was also the trip director chief for Georgia. I greeted the principals when they came to town and showed them around for their day. He also took the candidates to areas they had never seen before. We took the First Lady to Savannah, which the presidential candidates had not visited for a long time. It was really important to introduce [the Bidens] to the people.

My grandfather worked in Georgia politics on President Carter's presidential campaign. Georgia is now the center of national politics, so it was thrilling to be local and make a difference at a pivotal moment, when we could turn the state around for the first time in 28 years.

JR: If I were on a Zoom call with my colleagues in my office, you would find me wearing a Biden/Harris campaign t-shirt and Aloe Yoga biker shorts (opens in new tab). I bought a few more pairs of these shorts. At press conferences, I wear colored pantsuits. I have a maroon suit. I have a black suit. I have two pink suits. I have a turquoise suit. I'm currently looking to add another suit to my collection. Maybe an olive green or deep purple Theory pantsuit. My first pantsuit was also Theory. It was a classic black Theory pantsuit. I think I bought it for a job interview and wore it for my first interview.

At City Hall, people would say, "Oh, Jaclyn always wears turquoise pantsuits." As someone who has admired Hillary Clinton throughout her career, how can you not like a pantsuit?"

There is an element of confidence in a pantsuit, and I like the fact that it has pockets so I don't have to carry things in my hands. As a politician, you can never have too few possessions.

JR: I usually wear block-heeled shoes. Everlane has slip-on type shoes. They are great for work because you can run around in them. I like to match my masks with my clothes; I have a few that I bought on Etsy. I also bought a Claire V. Necktie mask. When I take the mask off, I can hang it from my neck like a necklace.

JR: My favorite is the hot pink pantsuit from Argent x Super Majority. I wore it the day before Election Day, the day Barack Obama came to Georgia. A coworker asked, "Where's Jaclyn?" I asked, and someone jokingly said, "You'll find him."
