Archie is becoming Lillibet's wonderful big brother, sources say
[Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are very protective of their children's privacy (opens in new tab), so we don't know much about Archie and Lilibet as children. sources close to the couple reported by Us Weekly (opens in new tab) that Archie is taking care of his sister shared some sweet details about what is going on, and they are truly heart-melting.
First, there is this tidbit that Archie did not exhibit any of the classic "firstborn syndrome" that occurs when a new baby comes in. From day one (specifically June 4), he was "kind and loving" and showed none of the "jealousy issues" that sometimes appear when an only child is joined by a sibling. This 2-year-old "adores" his sister and, with the help of his mom and dad, seems to hold her in his arms and even "kiss her a lot."
Harry and Meghan love their role as parents. A source said, "[They] are so in awe and blessed beyond words." And while many famous parents have an army of nannies, the royal couple is trying to maintain his "extremely hands-on approach" to parenting as the family grows. According to sources,
"The Sussexes have nannies they can turn to when their schedule gets out of whack, but they ...... Most of the time, they try to minimize the number of people they hire. I use a lot of the techniques I learned during Archie's time because I can take care of feeding and bathing him without too much fuss"
.
It's a cliché that kids number two parents will be less fussy, and Harry and Meghan seem to be living happily ever after. Sources also say that Harry is "the most caring father" and that being surrounded by his own family at home in Monticello, California is "just paradise for him."
Even before he met Meghan, Harry was not shy about his dreams of expanding his family. He told Katie Couric in a 2012 interview (opens in new tab), several years before he met Meghan, that he "longed" to have his own children.
It's wonderful to hear how much family time Meghan and Harry have spent with their children since taking a break from their busy royal duties (opens in new tab) earlier this year.
