Queen 'fully committed' to spending Christmas with family in Sandringham

Recently, the Queen has unfortunately cancelled several official events (opens in new tab) due to a doctor's diagnosis (opens in new tab). However, the annual Christmas celebration at Sandringham, Norfolk (opens in new tab) is not something the Queen is giving up, says a palace official. Due to the pandemic, the event was already canceled last year, but she intends to go through with it this year.

"This year, more than ever, it is incredibly important for Her Majesty to be surrounded by her loved ones," the official told the Mirror (opens in new tab)." The Queen is committed to entertaining everyone as she hopes to return to full health in the coming weeks."

Hopefully, the Queen's time of rest will allow her to maximize this year's Christmas celebrations, especially in light of the passing of Prince Philip (opens in new tab) in April." The source added, "Her Majesty is resting under doctor's orders in order to fully enjoy the company of her large family during the holiday period. The family gathering will be the perfect tonic for His Majesty, who has had to cancel many of his plans."

In other words, Sandringham will happen, it should. Whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (open in new tab) will attend is another story entirely. A few weeks ago, rumors circulated that they were going to travel to England (opens in new tab) for Christmas (opens in new tab) to introduce little Lilibet (opens in new tab) to their British family, but one royal expert was not so sure (opens in new tab). More recently, it was said that Prince Harry was in a "panic" about the Queen's health and intended to visit her at Christmas or before. Only time will tell if he will join the festivities.
