Adele says her son will probably hate songs about her when he grows up.
Adele wrote the song "My Little Love" for her son Angelo, interspersing the heartbreaking lyrics with conversations in which she tries to explain her parents' divorce to him.
The song is incredibly moving, but Adele predicts that Angelo may not necessarily be a big fan of the song in the future. She tells q with Tom Power (via People), "When Angelo becomes a teenager, I'm sure he's going to hate this song."
"But I had to include it because it was an important part of the puzzle of my life that I was trying to solve, not the album."
The conversation featured in the song was one in which Adele "told him clearly and just honestly" about the hesitation she was feeling.
"Imagine hearing that when you were six years old. What do you mean you don't know what you're doing? You would panic and your whole world would fall apart," she quipped. 'I couldn't hide from him. If I tried to hide from him, he could see me more clearly."
[10But even knowing that Angelo did not necessarily love the song, Adele says that writing "My Little Love" was necessary to help her heal. She explained, "The song helped me sort through some of the chatter that was going on in my ability to talk about how I was feeling."
Adele's highly anticipated new album, 30, was released on November 19 and has basically had the whole world weeping ever since. Many of the songs on the album are about Adele's divorce from Konecki, which she has been surprisingly candid about in recent weeks.
