William and Kate, Harry and Meghan's Children to Receive Christmas Gifts, Royal Experts Say
The rift between Prince William and Prince Harry shows no signs of mending, but royal experts say William and Kate Middleton will follow the tradition of sending Christmas gifts to the entire family, including Harry and Meghan Markle's children Archie and Lilibet.
"Yes, of course," royal expert Katie Nicole told OK! Magazine when asked if the Cambridges would send gifts to their families across the pond." They send gifts to all of their family members, including their nieces and nephews."
The Cambridges also send gifts to their nieces and nephews.
Although Harry and Meghan were invited to vacation with the royal family at the Queen's mansion in Sandringham, as is royal tradition, they reportedly will not be traveling abroad, according to Page Six magazine.
"Planning the family's Christmas involves a lot of logistics and planning, so of course the staff knows Harry and Meghan won't be coming," a source said. 'If they were, they would have told the family by now.
"But this is Her Majesty's first Christmas without her husband, so it's only natural that she would want to be with them."
The Queen has been ill of late, taking most of November off from official duties to recover from a back injury. She is scheduled to travel to Sandringham around December 17 to prepare for Christmas.
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, as well as William and Kate and their children, are expected to attend. The last time Harry and Meghan attended Christmas at Sandringham was in 2018; Christmas 2019 was spent in Canada with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, for "extended family time," and Christmas 2020 was spent at a social distance at their new home in Santa Barbara, California spent time socially distanced at their new home in Santa Barbara, California.
William and Kate also spent Christmas alone with their children last year due to the pandemic; Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who died in April, spent their last Christmas quietly at Windsor Castle.
William and Kate have yet to meet Lilibet, born in June 2021, and have not met Archie in person since the family retired as senior royals and moved to the U.S. According to Page Six, the Sussexes are expected to attend the queen's 2022 Diamond Jubilee, which they plan to attend.
According to the Daily Mail, the brothers and their families exchanged Christmas gifts last year, but that was before the family rift widened with the Oprah interview in March 2021. It is not known what the gifts were. The gift to the Cambridges was accompanied by a note to Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte, which Meghan handwrote herself.
Last Christmas, Queen Elizabeth gave Archie a waffle maker, Harry explained on "The Late Show with James Corden."
"He loves it so much. Archie wakes up in the morning and literally says, "Waffles?" he says."
