Seth Rogen Accident Too High to Stand Front Row at Adele's Concert Special
When Seth Rogen was invited to an Adele concert, he had no idea it would be the televised concert of her CBS special Adele: One Night Only, which aired on November 14. So he and his wife, Lauren Miller, had one spark beforehand for what was intended to be a casual night out.
It was a really big one, apparently.
They "smoked a lot of pot," he told Jimmy Fallon on Late Night, December 2.
"I got an invitation," Rogen recalled." You want to go to a little Adele concert?" I remember being told.
Arriving fully protected (in a chauffeured car), they found the event more intense than they expected. As they pulled up, "there were cranes, camera cranes, drones flying around, and the whole crew was there.
"I thought, 'Maybe it's not such a big TV special,' and the first thing I saw was Oprah Winfrey." And I'm like, "Oh no, I think it's a big TV special."
A star of stoner comedies like "Superbad," Rogen has been outspoken about her marijuana use throughout her career.
"I don't want to burst everyone's bubble, to be honest. ...... I smoke pot, Jimmy," Rogen said.
"Breaking news."
"Breaking news."
"We're going to have to settle," Rogen said.
But if he had known he was in the front row of the auditorium, in full view of the cameras, he said, he probably would have taken it a little easier.
"We're not mentally ready to do this right now," Rogen recalled thinking, and wishing he and his wife would disappear into the background. At that point they were given seats 1A and 1B.
"Front row center. ' he said. 'When I sit down, there's literally a camera pointed right at my face.'
Not only did Rogen not expect to find himself on the set of a concert with an audience of 10 million, he certainly did not think he should have been placed in such a prominent position.
"There were so many more famous people here who should be sitting where I'm sitting that I felt insulted that I was sitting in such a good seat," Rogen said, noting that he had never even met Adele. Behind him were celebrities like Dwayne Wade, Gabrielle Union, Kris Jenner, and Ellen DeGeneres. 'I was before Drake. It's like there is no world where I should be in front of Drake. How is that possible?"
"Leonardo DiCaprio behind me was like, 'Did Seth Rogen write 'Rolling in the Deep'? Is that why he's so close?
"If Adele is watching this," he said, "why would she do that?" He added.
