A Very Boyband Holiday": Everything You Need to Know

Although sometimes referred to as a boy band, Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC does not like to be known as a member. "We were classified as a boy band, but we always considered ourselves a vocal group," he told TV Insider.

"I think looking up to Boyz II Men and other vocal groups that we looked up to, the harmonies and arrangements that we did in each of our songs, I think we've kept that staying power in our music."

Kirkpatrick, along with former bandmates Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, and many other members of the "vocal group" of 80s and 90s superstars, will appear on "A Very Boy Band Holiday" on December 6.

ABC's musical special will feature Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons, and Justin Jeffre of 98 Degrees; Sean Stockman and Vanya Morris of Boyz II Men; New Edition's Bobby Brown and Michael Bibbins, and Eric-Michael Estrada of O-Town will also perform.

Joey McIntyre of New Kids on the Block will perform the band's holiday hit "This One's for the Children," the actor's 14-year-old son who recently appeared in Netflix's Country Comfort He will perform the song with Griffin McIntyre.

It's not just fans of throwback boy bands who are looking forward to this collaboration. Kirkpatrick said, "I think it was mostly a reunion." 'Even Boys II Men, New Edition, and New Kids were bands we hadn't worked with much, 98 Degrees, O-Town, all of these bands have worked together a lot, and they've all become good friends over the years.'

*NSYNC's Fatone and Boyz II Men's Morris, along with Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and AJ McLean, also appeared in Las Vegas this summer; the two will premiere a new Christmas duet on the show.

And if you're worried you won't hear *NSYNC's most famous Christmas song, don't be. In addition to holiday standards sung with nostalgia-inducing boy band harmonies, "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" is on the list of appearances.

"It was a lot of fun," Kirkpatrick said. We all talked in each other's trailers, telling stories about all the times our paths have crossed and what we've done."

For him, the show reflects the spirit of this season. 'It's a collaboration with a band that I used to see as rivals,' Kirkpatrick said. 'Playing with other bands is just what Christmas needs.'
