Amy Schumer Leaves $30,000 Tip at Manhattan Comedy Club Where She Got Her Start
It's not the first time celebrities have left large tips, but this holiday season, the tips they leave are bigger than ever. That is the case as part of The Great American Tip-Off. Amy Schumer visited the Manhattan comedy club where she originated and left huge tips for the waiters there.
"This is my home club," Schumer told the staff at the Comedy Cellar, the West Village comedy club that launched many famous comics. This place changed my life."
In a recent episode of The Great American Tip-Off, Schumer visited the club with Marcus Lemonis.
Lemonis, a star of CNBC's The Profit and HGTV's The Renovator, is leading the tip effort this year. According to The Great American Tip-Off's YouTube channel, "Marcus Lemonis has pledged to donate $1 million to give BIG TIPS to those in the service industry. "He encourages everyone to join the movement this holiday season and give a great tip to someone who has provided great service."
In the video, stars like Kristen Bell and Jason Biggs visit restaurants, car washes, florists, and other places where people earn a portion of their income from tips and leave large tips for employees.
"You guys work hard every day and it's undervalued," Lemonis told the staff at the comedy cellar he visited with Schumer." We want you to know that there are a lot of people out there who appreciate it."
He further explained why the two left such a large donation to be split among the club's employees, including servers and kitchen staff. He said, "She's better off than I am.
"Physically!" Schumer said. Schumer said.
"We wanted to share our blessings with you," Lemonis added.
Schumer has a long history with Comedy Cellar. It is the club where she got her start as a comedian and where she frequents. The comedian performed a set at the club just two weeks after giving birth in 2019 and returned this past April to help reopen the Comedy Cellar after it closed due to a pandemic. Other comedy superstars such as Chris Rock and Ray Romano also performed at the Comedy Cellar when it opened.
"We welcome everyone. Everyone who works here, come on up," Lemonis said. 'All of you in the service industry. We love you.
